Free AI Image Detector — Verify Any Photo With 6 AIs

Drop an image or paste a URL. Six vision AIs analyze it in parallel. You get one verdict — AI-generated, real, or uncertain — with an explicit agreement score. Three free verifications per day, no signup required to start.

Why single-detector AI image verification fails in 2026

Every AI image detector on the market is a classifier trained on a specific set of generators. When a new generator launches — Flux, Imagen 3, the next Midjourney — the detector's accuracy on its output drops sharply until the detector is retrained. The result is that no single detector is reliable across the full space of 2026 AI imagery.

Multi-model verification changes the failure surface. Six vision models from six different teams rarely have the same blind spots. When Sightengine misses an image because it was trained against an older Midjourney version, Hive or Claude often catches it. The cross-model approach is the only currently robust answer to "is this image AI-generated?"

How the free AI image detector works

1

Drop or upload an image

JPEG, PNG, WebP, or screenshot. Or paste a URL.

2

Six vision AIs analyze it in parallel

Claude, GPT, Gemini, Mistral, Grok, and Perplexity each assess authenticity independently.

3

One verdict + agreement score

Satcove returns a single answer — AI-generated, real, or uncertain — with the explicit agreement score.

Why a six-model consensus beats single detectors

Single detectors miss new generators

Every detector responds differently to generators, edits, and compression. Satcove compares independent classifications and names the artifacts behind disagreement instead of relying on one detector.

Agreement describes the panel, not authenticity

When the models converge, they reached the same classification; that does not prove an image's origin. Divergence highlights artifacts and interpretations that need forensic or provenance checks.

Use provenance for high-stakes verification

Detector performance changes with generators, edits, compression, and image type. Satcove is a triage tool; provenance records and qualified forensic review remain the stronger evidence.

What you get on the free tier

  • 3 image verifications per day on the free tier
  • All 6 vision AI models in parallel
  • Agreement score on every verdict
  • Detection of common 2026 generators (DALL-E 4, Midjourney v7, SDXL, Flux, Imagen 3)
  • No image is stored after the verdict is returned
  • No credit card required to start

When you need more — Satcove Pro

The free tier covers casual photo verification. Journalists, content moderators, and fact-checkers usually need more daily verifications and move to Pro for higher limits and Privacy Shield. See the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is this AI image detector really free?

Yes. The free tier gives you three image verifications per day across all six vision models. No credit card, no trial-expiry trick. Pro plans unlock higher daily limits for heavy users.

How accurate is multi-model image verification?

Accuracy varies by generator, editing, compression, and corpus. The agreement score is not an accuracy estimate; it only reports alignment between model classifications. Treat the tool as triage and use provenance or forensic review when authenticity has legal or journalistic consequences.

Can I detect deepfakes with this tool?

Yes for images — faces swapped or fully AI-generated. Video deepfake detection isn't supported yet.

Will the tool say 'AI-generated' on a real but heavily edited photo?

It can. Heavy retouching, compression, screenshots, and stylized photography can trigger AI-like artifacts. Satcove shows which models disagreed and why, but it cannot establish provenance from pixels alone.

Does Satcove store my uploaded images?

No. Uploaded images are processed in memory, sent to the six providers via their APIs, and deleted immediately after the verdict is returned. The verdict itself (without the image) is logged for service quality and cannot be linked back to the image content.

Which AI generators can you detect?

All major 2026 generators: DALL-E 4, Midjourney v7, Stable Diffusion XL Turbo, Flux 1.1 Pro, Google Imagen 3, Adobe Firefly, Ideogram. The multi-model approach is especially helpful here because no single detector covers all generators reliably.

Can I verify photos for journalism or legal use?

The tool is excellent for triage — narrowing a large set of images to the suspicious ones for human review. It is not a replacement for forensic analysis in high-stakes contexts like court proceedings or evidentiary journalism. For those, the verdict should inform, not decide.

How fast is a verification?

Ten to fifteen seconds for a typical image. All six vision models run in parallel.

Does this work on screenshots of social media posts?

Yes. Upload the screenshot. The tool will assess the image content, not the platform context. If the screenshot contains text claiming the image is real, the tool ignores the text and analyzes the visual content directly.

What languages does the verdict come in?

The verdict mirrors the language you interact in. Satcove supports English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Japanese, and Korean as output languages.

Can I embed this image detector on my own site?

Yes — we provide a free embeddable widget for journalists, fact-checkers, and educators. Reach out via the contact page for the embed code.

What is the difference between this and the AI fact checker?

The AI fact checker verifies text claims. The AI image detector verifies image authenticity. Both use the same six-model consensus engine architecture but on different inputs. Some users use both on the same news story — text check on the headline, image check on the accompanying photo.
